Prune Plum Stanley
    Duffs early jewel plum

Prune Plum - Stanley

Medium-sized oval freestone fruit with a beautiful blue skin and green-yellow flesh that's juicy and sweet. Tree is large and upright to spreading, fruiting young and cropping heavily. Self-fertile, it's a choice pollinator for other varieties.

Code PS-PLST          $35.00

Early Season - Burbank

Medium-sized bright red variety with deep yellow flesh and delicious flavour. Partially self-fertile, trees are flat-topped with drooping limbs often requiring some thinning, but are more cold-tolerant than some other cultivars. Suggested pollinators are 'Santa Rosa' and 'Duff's Early Jewel.'

Code PS-PLBU   $35.00

Early Season - Duff's Early Jewel

Smallish fruit with red skin and amber flesh. Brilliant little eating plum but equally nice for preserving or sauces. Self-fertile, though the 'Santa Rosa' has compatible pollen.

Santa Rosa Plum Trees     English Greengage Plum Trees

Mid Season - Santa Rosa

Considered the 'queen of plums,' this flavourful variety is a prized commercial and home orchard clingstone variety. Large and purple-skinned with juicy, tangy flesh, it's great for eating, jams, and stewing. Partially self-fertile, but look for a pollinating boost from either the 'Black Doris' or 'Omega.'

Code PS-PLSR         $35.00

Mid Season - Fortune

American clingstone first introduced to New Zealand in the 1990's. Large dark red-purple skinned fruit with golden flesh which blushes deep red when fully ripe, releasing its small 'pit' easily. This high quality firm fruit stores well. Good pollinators are the 'Santa Rosa' or the 'Billington.'

Code PS-PLF            $35.00

Mid Season - English Greengage

Flesh is translucent yellow under a striking green-yellow skin. Succulent and sweet, fruit is small to medium and prized for fresh eating, jam, drying, and cooking. Requires a fairly high winter chilling, it fruits poorly in warmer areas. Suitable pollinators are 'Coe's Golden Drop' and 'Angelina Burdett.'

Code PS11-EG            $35.00

Satsuma Plum Trees   Black Doris Plum

Mid Season - Hawera

Possibly descended from the 'Sultan' or 'Satsuma' variety (and found road-side in Hawera), fruit is lovely, large, and dark red, its blood-red flesh firm and flavourful. Great freestone eater or for preserves, it's self-fertile, though a 'Santa Rosa' nearby maximises fruiting.

Code PS-PLHW      $35.00

Mid Season - Satsuma

Blood red with a rounded heart shape, the juicy of this one is sweet and slighty tangy, making it ideal for eating, bottling, or jams. It's an upright willowy grower and heavy cropper, and while it's partially self-fertile, it benefits with a 'Santa Rosa' on the same plot.

Code PS-PLSA         $35.00

Mid to Late Season - Black Doris

Excellent all-purpose plum prized for its notably black skin with dark red sweet, juicy flesh. A vigorous, upright grower and heavy cropper, it's best companions are 'Duff's Early Jewel,' 'Elephant Heart,' and 'Santa Rosa.'

Code PS-PLBD       $35.00

Damson Plum Trees     Omega Plum

Mid to Late Season - Damson

Small tart fruit with blue skin and yellow flesh, the flesh is rather sharp, though a beloved culinary element particularly for jams, preserves and even Damson gin. Self-fertile and compact, the trees are prodigious bearers, disease resistant, and rarely need pruning.

Code PS-PLDM         $35.00

Late Season - Elephant Heart

An old-fashioned favourite with sweet, dark red flesh and a freestone pit, it's a good eater, bottler, or canning plum. Vigorous and heavy bearing, fruit hangs well on the tree for an extended harvest. Good pollinators are 'Santa Rosa' and 'Omega.'

Code PS-PLEH         $35.00

Late Season - Omega

Large freestone fruit with a dark red skin and firm crimson flesh, this one is prized for its great flavour and good storing. Tree bears regular heavy crops suitable for eating fresh or preserving. Partially self-fertile, it's helped by the 'Duff's Early Jewel,' 'Billington,' 'Elephant Heart,' or the 'Santa Rosa.'
