Gooseberry - Worcesterberry

Sometimes confused with the Jostaberry, all fingers point to this nost likely being a 'tamed' version of a wild gooseberry. Mildew-resistant and easy-growing, it's a prolific producer once established. Fruit darkens to near-black when ready (but can be eaten green), reminiscent of a cross between a gooseberry and a currant. Great fresh, cooked, or for wine.
