A small round ancient French carrot from Paris Paris is built on clay and over generations this variety has adapted to this soil. A clay carrot that is easy to grow in containers. Italian Caper Seeds
A native to the Mediterranean, Capers require a dry heat and intense sunlight to thrive. Freeze the seeds in sand for two weeks prior to germination. Germination can take from 3-12months so be very patient. It is also wise to bring the young plant indoors for protection during the winter months. They may have flowers the first year but it is more likely to flower the second season. After the plant is established they can live for decades. Caper plants are very attractive and highly aromatic. Sweet Pepper - Lombardo
A native to the Lombardia region. This long green very sweet frying pepper turns red, yellow or orange when fully ripe.
Peppers are 12-15cm long with a very thin skin. Can also be pickled or dried. 1.5g approx 225 seeds.

A long green zucchini and quite deeply ribbed. Fiorentino is a large robust plant and a good producer of firm,fleshy fruits with a great nutty flavour.

Pumpkin Marina di Chioggia
An heirloom rustic winter squash from near Venice with abundant medium size fruit and sweet orange flesh. Excellent for roasting, soups and Tortelli di Zucc a. Many renaissance artists have captured this varietal on the canvas. Plant 6 seeds 2cm deep in late spring, in hills and thin to 2-3 plants. Separate hills by 2m. 4g approx 13 seeds.

Globe Artichoke - Violetto Precoce
Spineless,thornless medium size artichoke with delicately nutty flavoured, fleshy buds and rich violet colouration. These buds are less iron flavoured than the larger varieties.
Sow under cover in early spring and transplant, or sow direct into well drained soil. Thin to 80cm spacing. Artichokes are very attractive plants so can be easily incorporated into a non-vegetable garden space. 3g approx 70 seeds

| Bulbing Fennel di Parma Sel. Prado.
Small mid/ late Alpine fennel with a small white bulb; excellent flavour and texture. Sliced finely and added to salad it gives a lovely aniseed - like flavour crunch.
Italians believe raw fennel cleanses the palate and often serve it at the end of a meal salad, thickly sliced with a little lemon juice and olive oil. It is easy to grow and generally requires cool weather. Plant late summer for autumn and winter harvest. 8g approx 1000 seeds. |
