All the gear for making your own wines, beers and ciders at home ...

Welcome to our selection of supplies for brewing your own lovely wines, ciders and beers at home from scratch using foraged or surplus produce - no kits or concentrates here.

Book - Home Brewing for New Zealanders

I got given a copy of the first edition of this book in 1992.   Who would have thought I'd be publishing the 3rd edition.

It still remains the best book available for New Zealanders wanting to make their own beers, wines and ciders at home.

We tracked down the author, Chris Reading and worked with him to get the book reprinted.

194 pages of information including chapters on Equipment, Sterilisation, Fermenting, Bottling as well as yeasts and tannings, problems and remedies, sparkling wines and meads and loads of recipes.

Code: HH38-HB                           $39.50
Yeasts

You can let your ciders and wines ferment naturally with the wild yeasts present on the skin or if you'd like a little more control over the finished article you might like to try one of these commercially prepared brewers yeasts.

Cider & Wine                                     $6.50

Lager Yeast                                       $10.50

Airlocks for homemade wine
Airlocks

These plastic airlocks let the fermenting gasses escape while keeping the air out.  This stops your wines turning to vinegar.

They are designed to be fitted to corks that you stopper your fermenting bottles with.  They can be fitted to rubber bungs or corks.  To fit the airlock, drill a hole in your cork slightly smaller than the airlock and push it in.

Plastic Airlock                                   $6.50

Bottle Brushes and Jars

Here's an essential bit of kit.  NZ Made bottle brush for cleaning your fermenting jars and bottles.

We don't sell fermenting jars and storage bottles.   We recommend that anything fizzy you bottle in recycled plastic soft drink bottles as they're designed to take the pressure.

Any still wines and ciders we recommend you ferment and store them in glass flagons and larger glass carbouys that you can find occasionally at recycled centres.

A good scrub in hot soapy water with the bottle brush and they'll be good for many brews.

Bottle Brush                                    $5.80 ea.

Siphon Tubes

To get your wine from one vessel to another and leave all the gunge behind on the bottom you'll need a length of clean flexible tube.

1.5m Siphon Tube          $6.60 per length

Copper Tun No Rinse Steriliser 25g

Effectively sterilises everything for use in brewing, winemaking and distilling.

Makes the job of sterilising your equipment easy. This is different to conventional alkaline powdered sterilisers as requires no rinsing.

25gm sachet $4.50

Brewers Heat Pad

Brewers Heat Pad

Not many homes have uninsulated hot water cylinder cupboards anymore so you might need to invest in another even heat source to keep your brew fermenting.

These plug in heat pads are economical to run and ensure your wines and beers ferment away at an even temperature.

Brewers Heat Pad                    $ 75.00
