Our Stall at the Ellerslie Flower Show

Here's some shots of the 3m x 3m plot that was Mapua Country Trading HQ for the week. Everything started looking like home once we got the sign up, sacking on and floor down. Then we turned around and looked at what we had to fit in and thought perhaps we've been a bit optimistic ...

but like a tardis, our little stall held more stock than you would think humanly possible...

Getting There

And then 5 minutes before the Retail Judges were due to arrive it all came together and we were ready.

And we got a Retail Merit prize! which I thought was what you got for your sand saucer at school but apparently not so - only 10 stalls out of 130 got prizes.

There wasn't actually much room left for customers so we decided we'd occupy some of the grass outside our stall too - we'd won an award so we figured we'd get away with it.

The winning exhibition garden was all about mushrooms so our little display of Shiitake logs caused a lot of interest

Jo Heatherbell's lovely carved stone finials to put on top of your bean poles were something completely new ...

And as always the cheese making kits went down a treat with lots of impromtu demos of how to cut and drain curds...

... and our Tui Feeders from recycled soft drink bottles proved popular as there had just been a release of Tui on Banks Peninsula while we were there.

Overall visitors were into our products. We sold a load of sacks as always for all sorts of uses ...

We were the only stall selling seeds ... and seed garlic ... we took 40kgs with us and smelt like a steak marinade all the way down the road in the hot van..
