If you're keeping 10 - 50 birds for eggs or meat production then one of these larger shed designs will be the right one for you.  Keeping a larger number of birds requires a different set of design considerations with good ventilation and ease of cleaning being two of the main ones.     These are the sheds that our breeders use.    Practical and durable.

#4. Large Freestanding Chook House

This popular model can accommodate 18 to 20 hens comfortably.

A good sized door and roof height inside makes getting in to clean the house an easy job as does the built in floor.

The shed is built on skids for easy shifting/towing around the paddock if you want to move it or the solid floor means it can be raised up on blocks or legs if you want to keep it in the one place and give the chooks somewhere to have a dust bath and shade.

The solid floor and a pop-hole that closes keeps out vermin and netting on one side provides good ventilation.  Position the netting side of the house away from the prevailing wind.

This house also comes with the option of a 2.4m square 1.8m high run with access door.

If you want to keep a decent sized flock of up to 40 heavy breed birds or 50 commercial layers like shavers or hylines then this extra large house is the design for you.

It has the same features as the Large Shed design but with more nesting boxes, 7.2m of perching space and a solid door.   It is also larger at 2.4m wide x 1.8m deep with a 1.8m roof at the highest point.
