As anyone who has had chooks will know, they drink a lot of water.   An adult hen will drink up to 200mls a day, more on hot days.  Chickens will  not drink dirty water and a hen that is without water, even for a short time, will show a sharp decline in egg production.

There's nothing worse than trying to clean out a slimy water pot every couple of days for the hens.  It's no sooner clean than it's all green and gunky again.

Graeme King designed this auto water dispenser over 30 years ago as a project for his apprenticeship.   He has improved it over the years and we think it deserves a NZ design excellence award for it's sheer simplicity and practicality.   It will save you a lot of time and effort.

This is by far the best water dispenser we have found.  It is tough, stands up to heavy frost, keeps the water clean, holds over 10 litres so you're not refilling it every couple of days and the sturdy handle makes it easy to carry from the tap to the run once you've filled it.
