You never know what's going to turn up at the weigh in day of our annual Mapua Giant Pumpkin Competition. This year was no exception. A new record for the biggest pumpkin grown thus far in NZ was set by local man John McKay who's pumpkin weighed in at a whopping 497 kilos. Horse poo and seaweed are his secret - 5 tonnes of it.
